TrujilloHNM Society of Professional Engineers award recognizes outstanding contributions to the profession and community

SANTA FE, NM – The New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers (NMSPE) named Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources (EMNRD) employee Harold Trujillo Outstanding Engineer for 2024. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and community service.

Trujillo is the Energy Technology & Engineering Bureau Chief for EMNRD’s Energy, Conservation and Management Division (ECMD), the New Mexico State Energy Office. While the award designates Trujillo the top engineer for the current year, it also recognizes his long and distinguished EMRD career, which began on November 1, 1979.

As Energy Technology & Engineering bureau chief, Trujillo directs the staff that manages numerous clean-energy programs, including the highly popular Solar Market Development and Sustainable Building Tax Credit programs.

“Mr. Harold Trujillo has and continues to serve New Mexico with distinction as a Bureau Chief in the State Energy Office,” said Rebecca Puck Stair, Director of the New Mexico State Energy Office. “His extraordinary institutional knowledge of New Mexico clean energy and energy efficiency programs, and his consistent high-caliber work advance our state’s energy-conservation goals every day.”

Trujillo received the Engineer of the Year award at the New Society of Professional Engineers’ E-Week conference on February 23 at the Hotel Andaluz in Albuquerque. “I’m extremely delighted and very honored to receive this distinguished recognition from my fellow colleagues at the NM Society of Professional Engineers,” he said.
