george miller rsGeorge R. Miller, 93, of Silver City passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery, Pastor Doug Ferris will be officiating.

George was born March 8, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John and Mabel Miller. He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1942.

He joined the Navy right after high school. He was a pilot in World War II. When he left the Navy he pursued his love of flying. He flew helicopters and fixed wing airplanes. Helicopters were the love of his life. George was employed at Flying "A" Flight Service, until his retirement. He enjoyed hiking and being outdoors. He was an avid rock hounder and a member of the Archeological Society. He spent most of his weekends puttering in the garage and building a replica of a 1924 Dormoy Bathtub. He also enjoyed collecting rocks and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Sarah Miller and his daughter Cathy Knight and her husband Larry Knight of Roswell, New Mexico and granddaughter Lindsey Knight of Atlanta, Georgia, and 8 stepchildren, Andrew Romano and his wife Tammy, Danny Romano, Joanie McDowell and her husband Lynn, Debra Mamula and her husband Ted, Julie Simmons and her husband Kurt, Maureen Gilpin and her husband Gary, Jeff Romano, Eric Romano and his wife Erin, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel, brother Earl Miller and step son Anthony Romano.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery, Pastor Doug Ferris will be officiating.
