ramona vasquez rsRamona Vasquez, 85 of Silver City passed away August 17, 2017 at Gila Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Ramona was born October 2, 1931 in Villa Lopez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Luciano and Soledad (Arzabe) Duarte. She was a very spiritual person and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Ramona was a very friendly person, with a very positive attitude toward life meaning she never met a stranger. Among the many things she enjoyed, sunsets and traveling were two of her favorite things. Ramona made many friends while traveling with her husband in Mexico, Europe and Nicaragua. She achieved her dream by going on a Caribbean cruise with her daughter and son-in-law. Her life goal was having great adventures, being happy and making those around her happy. Ramona certainly will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ramona is survived by her husband, Jose H. Vasquez of 62 years; daughter, Leticia Obar (Robert Jr.); Brother, Beto Duarte (Clara); sister, Leanor Baylon one grandson, Robert Obar III (Susan), two great- grandchildren, Robert Obar IV and Jacob Obar; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Also surviving Ramona are many in-laws and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Baca's Funeral Chapels where the Prayer Vigil and Rosary will follow at 10:30am. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 12 O'clock noon at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Jaroslaw Nowacki, officiating. Cremation will follow at Baca's Funeral Chapels.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Obar III, Daniel Vasquez, Joe Vasquez, Luis Baylon, Luis Baylon Jr, and Alejandro Duarte.
