alfredo turrieta rsAlfredo C. Turrieta, 85, a lifelong resident of Deming passed away Sunday October 15, 2017 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Alfredo was born December 3, 1931 in Deming to Juan and Trinidad (Chaires) Turrieta.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army and in 1961 he went to work with the Deming Fire Department in which he was the Assistant Fire Chief. He always enjoyed painting and throughout his life he painted many houses locally.

He is remembered as being a very organized person who had a passion for doing things right. Being the kind of person he was, he always thought of others first, was generous to his family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

He is survived by his wife, Olga C. Turrieta of the home; son Alfredo Turrieta Jr. of Albuquerque; daughter Anna Priestley and her husband Ron of Las Cruces; sister Estella Baese and her husband Ray of Deming; his granddaughter Jakki Gallegos and her husband Diego; 2 great granddaughters Rauni and Jordynn Gallegos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Johnny Turrieta and sister Trini Baeza.

Visitation will be Thursday morning at 9 at St. Ann Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 10 o'clock to be led by Suzanne Lundy. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 with Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery with military honors accorded.

Pallbearers will be Alfredo Turrieta Jr., Manuel Rodriguez, Ron Priestley, Diego Gallegos, Ray Baese, and Juan Gonzales.
