armando gonzalesArmando "Mando" M. Gonzales Jr., 28, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Monday, January 22, 2018 in Silver City, NM.

He was born November 6, 1989 in Silver City to Armando Gonzales Sr. and Valerie Marquez Gomez.

During his high school years he was a great cross country runner for Cobre High where he was coached by Kelly Osuna Salido. He received numerous medals and awards.

He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.

Armando was a funny, smart, and compassionate young man. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his grandparents, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed playing basketball, jumping on the trampoline, playing video games, listening to music, drinking beer, swimming, hiking, reading, and drawing.

He was a very helpful young man who would give his shirt off his back to help family, friends, and the less fortunate. Armando was a volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima Church. He also adopted a lil girl through nonprofit organization in Africa to ensure her health and nutrition.

He is survived by his father, Armando Gonzales Sr. (Theresa) of Santa Clara; his mother, Valerie Gomez of Bayard; two brothers, Matthew Gonzales of Santa Clara; David Gonzales of Bayard; four sisters, Christeen Alvarado of Bayard; Angelica Gonzales of Phoenix, AZ; Danica Marquez and companion Gabe Martinez of Silver City; Monique Gonzales of Bayard; paternal grandfather, Antonio Gonzales of Hanover; maternal grandparents, Margaret and Manuel Portillo; four aunts, Bernadette Alvillar (Jesus) of Bayard; Darlene Medina (Joshua) of Bayard; Julie Mares (Chris) of Las Vegas, NV; Christina Apauty (Vandal) of Oklahoma; paternal aunts, Betty Apodaca (Rito), Lupe Maldonado, uncle, Eloy Fuentes Jr. (Josie); one uncle, Thomas Portillo of Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal step-grandmother, Florence Gonzales; paternal grandmother, Martha Fuentes; his sister, Angelina Gonzales, paternal great-grandparents, Manuel and Juana Gonzales; Eloy and Erlinda Fuentes; maternal great-grandparents, Joe and Mary Gonzales; one uncle, Antonio Gonzales Jr., one nephew, Lawrence Manuel Grijalva.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31 from 5-6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m. with Father Abraham Soliz reciting. The funeral mass will be Thursday, February 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Abraham Soliz officiating. Concluding service and interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Martinez, Jesus Alvillar, Alek Aragon, Joel Corral, Anthony and Alex Aguirre.

Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews.
