bobby prewit rsBobby "Bob" W. Prewit, 86, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.

He was born April 26, 1931 in Dalhart, TX to William Elijah Prewit and Verna Yarbro Prewit.

Mr. Prewit proudly served his country with the U.S. Army National Guard.

Bob, 20, married Dorothy, 16, in 1951 in Jayton, Texas. They lived in Stamford, Texas; Odessa, Texas; and Kermit, Texas. In 1963 they moved to Silver City, New Mexico with their three children.

Bob and Dorothy created and opened the Furniture Gallery, Inc. in 1968, which they operated for 36 years.
Bob was very active in civic organizations in Silver City. He was a life-long member of the Elks, Lions and Moose clubs. He believed deeply in giving back to the community. As a businessman, he always put the customer first. He believed every customer was to be treated with respect and with a genuine interest in their reasons for shopping at his store. He had a special way of making them feel like the most important person there. He genuinely loved people and always enjoyed social gatherings.

Also, Bob had a humor about life that everyone enjoyed. He always had a story, an anecdote or a joke that was appropriate for the situation. His smile, chuckle and laugh brought assurance and joy to almost anyone within earshot.

The family believes his long life can be attributed to his humor and the ability to laugh at himself. He carried little stress, if any at all. He was a precious gem of a man and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Rusty Prewit (Gina); Tony Prewit (Patricia); one daughter, Tina Rosebeary; five grandchildren, Jesssica, Samantha, Garrette, David and Michelle; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Prewit (Linda); Carl Dennis Prewit (Janice); one sister, Verna Louise Finkenbinder (Don); one sister-in-law, Edie Prewit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, William Morene, Elvin Eugene, Donald Lewis, and Tommy Jack Prewit; five sisters, Martha Jane Prewit Lloyd, Dorothy Faye Prewit Stubbs, Lucy Jo Prewit Jarmes, Carol Sue Prewit, and Linda Kay Prewit.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10 at 11 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Rev. Andrew Housley officiating. As per family request donations can be made to your favorite charity.

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels "Trusted care for the ones you love" ~ 575-537-0777.
