ramon ramirez rsRamon Ortiz Ramirez, 72, of Hurley, NM, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 in Tucson AZ.

He was one of the people born in "space" also known as Santa Rita NM on May 29, 1945 to Maria Soledad Ortiz and Francisco Ramirez.

For more than 20 years he worked as a Maintenance/Certified Boilermaker with Hillcrest General Hospital and then Gila Regional Medical Center.

On his days off he enjoyed playing softball, archery, picnics with his family, working on cars, and cruising with his brother Frank, and in his earlier years many enjoyable trips to Tucson. Television watching was also one of the things he enjoyed especially sports, like boxing, football, Monday night RAW WWE and any type of old western movie. His grandkids and great grandkids brought joy and life to him.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years Susie Peru Ramirez of Hurley NM, his four children; Ray Ramirez (Carrie) of Ahwatukee, AZ, Michael Ramirez (Sonia) of Tucson, AZ, Henry Ramirez (Sunny)of Chandler, AZ and his daughter Serena Ramirez (Felix)of Hurley, NM. His beloved and treasured grandchildren, Kimberly, Divina, Dominique, Danielle, Raelyn, Jannia, A.J, Genessa, and Jazmin. Two great grandkids, Taevon and Zayden. His sister Lilly Ramirez Lopez (Raphael)of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother Maria Ortiz (Chole) and father Francisco Ramirez, as well as his brother Francisco Ramirez, and his sister, Rosemary Ramirez Arrellin.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 11 from 3-4 p.m. for the many friends and anyone else wanting to pay their respects. The rosary will follow at Terrazas Funeral Chapel at 4 p.m. with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hurley Infant Jesus Shrine officiated by Father Francisco Diaz.

An interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be, Danny Ortiz, Francisco Ramirez, Javier Peru, Gilbert Bujanda, Mel Ortiz and Henry Sedillos. Honorary Pallbearers are his sons, nephews, his grandson AJ Ramirez, Domingo Arrellin, Rafael Lopez Sr. & Jr., Manuel Peru.
