Felix "John" Chacon Portillo 75, of Silver City entered eternal rest on March 5, 2018 in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 08, 1942 in Santa Rita NM to Francisco and Emilia Portillo of Hurley.

John loved numerous things like camping, hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, the 12hour Christmas Story Marathon and his favorite team the Washington Redskins. He was a butcher for many years in Albuquerque and at Albertson's in Silver City. He was loved by many growing up in Hurley and Grant County.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla Hinojosa Portillo of the family home in Silver City, his five children; John Portillo and Claire of Flagstaff AZ, Mary Portillo Soto and Greg of Silver City, Pablo Portillo of Phoenix AZ, Jenette Portillo Sandoval and Carlos of Henderson NV, Jeramiah Portillo of Albuquerque NM; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also, his surviving siblings Tarcilla P. Pena of Alamogordo, Cora P. Trujillo, Teresa P. and Dave Garcia all of Albuquerque NM and Tommy C. Portillo of Las Cruces NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Jimmy C. Portillo, his older sisters Lena P. Saiz, Annie P. Castillo, Neno P. Soliz, and also his youngest sister Jenny "Kookie" Portillo.

His pallbearers will be Tomas and Treyton Padilla, Greg Soto, Jesus Mata, Chris Pena, Michael and Steven Montoya.

His honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Chrystal, Tomas, LeAnn, Sarah, Fabre, Megan, Morgan Ruby, Alexia, and Samara.

Services will be held on Friday March 16, 2018 at Terrazas Funeral Chapel with a private family viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Christian services to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Norman Borrego officiating.
