helen moreno rsHelen Maldonado Moreno, 85 a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Safford, Arizona. She was born August 2nd, 1932 in Gila, NM to Leopoldo and Manuela Maldonado.

Our mother was a strong and a hard worker but most of all a "cheerleader" She will always be remembered for watching her grandchildren play sports such as: basketball, softball and baseball. She especially stayed up many late hours watching her Diamondbacks on TV and also watching all the NFL football games. She was well-known for her cooking especially her "tamales". She loved to garden and her yard was always amazing. Our mom was unique in everything that she did. She loved all her grandchildren, her nieces, nephews, and her godchildren. Being the eldest of 8 children, she always took responsibility of loving and helping her siblings. Mom loved to dance, and listen to music. She will be deeply missed but our love for her will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her children. Two sons Joe Moreno (wife-Lynnita), Mike Moreno (companion- Julia), two daughters Rose Aguilar (husband-Ted) and Mary Louise Marquez (husband-David), two brothers Cecario (wife-Mary), Jesus (wife-Helen) Maldonado, and one sister Mary Ann Montoya from Ponca City, Oklahoma. Also surviving her are 16 grandchildren,27great- grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Luis Moreno. Two grandsons, Joey Moreno and Jake Olgesby, two brothers Manuel and Epimenio Maldonado, and three sisters, Lucinda Kirker, Ester Olivas, and Ofelia Arellano.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapel. The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be Saturday, March 17, 2018 at nine o'clock in the morning at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City. Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin. The Funeral Liturgy will follow at ten o'clock in the morning at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Concluding services and burial will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele.
