Joseph Benjamin Avena, 35, of Bayard passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

The Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 at five o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Silver City. Serving as pallbearers will be Israel Avena, Rick Garza, Chris Garza, Eduardo “Lalo” Martinez, Ralph Alvarado, Tomas Montoya, Sam Trujillo, Arthur Quintana, Cristobal Avena, Israel “Boogs” Avena, Nathan Apodaca, Mike Alirez, Joseph Trujillo Jr., Joseph Trujillo and Gabriel Pedraza. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos Vega, Vinny Vega, Casey Vest, Randy Venegas, Jacob Alvarado and Ruben Morales. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.

Joseph was born on August 16, 1982 to Maria Avena in San Lorenzo. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing horseshoes and having fun. Most of all, he loved spending time with his baby girls. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joseph is survived by his companion, Angela Trujillo; mother, Maria Avena Garza; three daughters, Azaylie Avena, Jae’Lin Avena and Scarlett Avena; three brothers, Christopher Garza, Rick Garza and Israel Avena; maternal grandmother, Rufina Avena; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
