max murillo rsMax R. Murillo, 65, a Grant County resident, entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

Max was born on November 27, 1952 to Jesus Murillo and Belen R. Murillo in Santa Rita, New Mexico. He was a hard working man, jack of all trades and skilled, but his passion was music. He was a life long musician and could pick up any instrument and play any tune. Max played with numerous bands in the local and surrounding areas. He loved the company of his family and friends and adored all his grandkids. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Max is survived by three sons, James Murillo of Tucson, AZ., Max Murillo Jr. (Erica) of Bayard and Steven Murillo of Silver City; four daughters, Maxine Murillo of Tucson, AZ., Naomi Placencio (Johnny Williams) of Phoenix, AZ., Christy Murillo of Silver City and Antoinette Murillo of Austin, TX; 11 granddaughters, 6 grandsons and 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lorenzo R. Murillo and Jose R. Murillo; four sisters, Theresa M. Padilla, Angelina M. Cuestas (Carlos), Sylvia Rodriguez (Ray) and Janie M. Lucero; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jesus R. Murillo and one sister, Ernestina Murillo.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5 to 6 p.m. and the Prayer Vigil and Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City. Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. Concluding services and burial will be at Hanover Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Manuel F. Ibarra.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Marquez, Joe Murillo Jr., Eric Murillo, Ray Rodriguez Jr., Roman Valenzuela and Max Murillo Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesus Murillo, Lorenzo Murillo, James Murillo, Steven Murillo, Ysidro Murillo, Archie Murillo, Ray Rodriguez, Angel Peru Jr., James Palacios, Ramon Marquez, Sammy Guerra and "Big Boy" Frankie Carrasco.
