Robert James Hamilton, 78, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, April 6, 2018 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 8, 1940 in Santa Rita, NM to Charles Floyd and Lola McKinney Hamilton.

Mr. Hamilton proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy. He was a retired electrician for Phelps Dodge Corporation. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hamilton of the family home; one son, Robert James Hamilton Jr., (Minami) of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Natalie Ortiz (Ismael) of Tyrone; Penny Carrier of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Mifuyu Hamilton, Elvis Castaneda, Russell Peace, Patrick Peace, and Diamond Coronado; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Elvis Castaneda; three brothers, Bennie, Clyde, and Bill Hamilton; two sisters, Ruth Houston, and Mildred Bellamy.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 12 from 11-11:45 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints with the funeral service to follow at 11:45 a.m. with Bishop Neil McDonald officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Maldonado, Charles Deming, Steve Edwards, Lloyd Dille, Jerry McDonald, and Lloyd Lacy. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his family and friends.
