Maria G. Alba, 89, a longtime Lordsburg resident passed away Tuesday April 10, 2018 in the comfort of her home.

Mary was born December 23, 1928 in Bosque, New Mexico to Frank and Adela Gallegos. She came to Lordsburg in the late 1960's from Rodeo and locally worked at Gambles and Up To Date Grocery for some time. She eventually went to work with the United States Postal Service and over the years held several positions within the office as well as working in different locations in the immediate area. Mary retired from there with over 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in which she was a member of the Guadalupana's. Over the years Mary also would help a the family farm and work alongside her family.

She is survived by her children, Arthur R. Alba of Lordsburg, Xavier Luis Alba (Barbara) of Santa Fe, NM, David Alba (Mary) of Las Cruces, NM, Danny Alba (Cathy) of Rodeo, NM, Henry Alba of Silver City, NM, Victor Alba (Johnnie) of Silver City, NM, Rene Alba (Debbie) of Sahuarita, AZ, Monica Amadei (David) of Las Cruces, NM, and Tony Alba (Susan) of Safford, AZ; 3 brothers, Augustine Gallegos, Patricio Gallegos, and Johnny Gallegos; 1 sister Mela Armijo; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday morning, April 14, 2018 at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 9:30 led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 o'clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at the Rodeo Cemetery.
