john srack rsJohn Aldin Srack has gone to his eternal rest on April 10, 2018.

He arrived on Christmas Day, 1942.

Inurnment will be held at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends following the luncheon.

He was born at Bell Mission Hospital (Bell, CA).

John attended school at Clifton Elementary (Artesia, CA) and Lakewood High School (Lakewood, CA).

Upon High School graduation John served honorably in the U.S. Navy as an Electricians Mate Second Class from June 1960 to December 1963 on the USS Fechteler (DD-870) and the USS Hamner (DD-718).

After his service he was hired and worked 35 years for the General Telephone Company (now Verizon).

John retired in 1999, after working 26 years in Wausau, WI. His duties included central office maintenance, installation, general office staff, supply, distribution, and logistics.
John's early retirement led him into a new career as a Naturalist, working for the education of students in all grade levels. John's interests always involved plants, animals, camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, canoeing, hiking, biking, and woodworking.

John was a lifelong member of the NRA and of the Disabled American Veterans. He had tremendous respect for all people who honorably served in the military.

In Spring of 2004, John and his wife Marge (Margaret) retired to Silver City, NM to embrace a new lifestyle and to meet new people. John cherished the wonderful friendships he made through volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

He also served in the First United Methodist Church on the Staff-Parish Committee and as a Trustee.

John and Marge were married on June 9, 1979.

Along with his beloved wife, he leaves behind his children Kelly Srack (Borrego Springs, CA) and Miranda Remington (Arlington Heights, IL); his step-children Audra (Janas) Monschein (Amherst, OH) and Steven Janas (Deana), (Lombard, IL), his grandchildren Amanda Monschein, Emily Monschein (Amherst, OH), and Christian Dube' (Arlington Heights, IL). He will be greatly missed by his brother Michael Srack (Bertha) (Lakewood, CA); his sister Sawyer (Richard) (Bird Creek, AK); his brother-in-law Brent Fisher (St. Moritz, Switzerland); his sister-in-law Eileen Griswold (Clifford) (New Bern, NC); and many beloved extended family members and good friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Catherine (Starck) Srack; his mother and father-in-law Frederick and Mildred Fisher; many special aunts and uncles; his special cousin Joanie Fernandez; and nephew Russell Griswold.

His Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, John would appreciate donations to be given to a charity of your choice or a donation to the First United Methodist Church, 314 W. College Ave, Silver City, New Mexico, 88061.
