betsy evatt rsElizabeth "Betsy" Willis Evatt was born in Santa Rita, NM on December 11, 1943 to Willard O Willis and Hortense "Sweet" Harllee Willis. She left this world on April 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family due to a heart attack. She was a beloved wife to Bill Evatt for the past 25 years and step-mother to Troy Evatt (Bobbi Jo) and Dawn Burns (Bill). She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Willis Miller (Howie) and niece and nephew, Joseph Miller and Christine Miller Stites. She was an amazing grandmother to Celina Sircy, Carlynn Burns, Cameron Burns and Carissa Johnson as well as a great grandmother and great aunt to Lauren and Zach Evatt, Cyrus and Julianna Stites, Savanna Miller, Taytum Gutierrez, Weston and Carson Johnson and Grady Burns.

Betsy was well known as an educator in our community. She taught and worked as an administrator in many places, including Boston, Albuquerque, Cobre and Silver Schools as well as Western New Mexico University. Betsy was an active member of the Silver City United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge. She also participated in Eastern Star and many other organizations. Betsy served on numerous local and state boards and committees. She was an extremely kind and giving woman who spent hours in the community service. Children always gravitated to her because she was so attentive and warm to all. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the Silver City United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Silver City United Methodist Church, the Grant County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
