Gomez 02Danny Roy Gomez, 59, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Monday, October 1, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born January 6, 1959 in Silver City, NM. Danny will never be forgotten. He was the kindest man with the biggest heart.  He is loved dearly and will be missed immensely by all who knew him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather.  He cherished his wife Dawn and cared lovingly for all his family. Danny loved his music and cheering for the Dodgers and yelling at his Giants to “catch the darn ball!”  He also truly loved his work at Bayard Elementary, where all the children loved him as much as he loved them. Brother Danny always remembered where he came from, the neighborhood surrounding “La Capilla Hill” in south Silver City.  We thank God for the time he had here on earth blessing all of us.

Austin of Santa Clara; two sons, Diego Chavez of Mimbres; Daniel Chavez and wife Elizabeth of Mimbres; one daughter, Amanda Torres and husband Rosendo Sr. of Bayard; eleven grandchildren, Breanna, Rosendo Jr., Albert, Levi, Samuel, Nico, Jose, Karlyna, EJ, Mauricio, and Luis; one great granddaughter, Maddison; four brothers, Guillermo Chavez (youngest) of Santa Clara; Arthur Gomez (oldest) and wife Rosie of Tucson,  AZ; Joe Portillo and wife Barbara of Tucson, AZ; Richard Portillo and wife Dorothy of Las Cruces; four sisters, Virginia Ponce and husband Bob Ponce of Silver City; Maria Arellano of Santa Clara; Dorothy Swapp and husband Ronald of Silver City; Connie Chavez and companion Jason Bray of Silver City.
