Alma J. Wiles, 92, of Red Rock, NM passed away on December 18, 2018 at her residence. A Memorial Service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:30 with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.    Jean, as she was known to her friends and family. She was born to Earl C. Haas and Alice Marie (Smith) Haas on September 13, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas. During WWII she worked at Hercules powder plant where gun powder was made for the war effort, later she was employed as a secretary at Dunn and Bradstreet in Kansas City, Missouri. In the fall of 1949 she met James P. Wiles Sr.; they were married on December 2, 1949. They were married 55 years before his death in 2004. James operated a construction company and Jean was his faithful helpmate. In 1956 they purchased a farm in Desoto, Kansas, raising animals and farming until 1964, when they moved to Alaska for a short time. Upon their return to Kansas, they owned and operated a sporting goods store, before retiring to New Mexico in 1981. Two children were born to this union, Brenda Joy and James Parke Jr.  Jean was a gifted pianist as well as a loving mother and grandmother.

She leaves behind her two children, four grandchildren, Cynthia, Angela, Jonathan and Michelle, twelve great grandchildren, Amanda Chelsey, Savannah, Dimitris, Elijah, Tristin, Billy, Kay, Yahsua, Jourdan, Tzipporah and Jaxton, and one great great grandchild A.J.  She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, William Haas.
