rogers 02Patricia Ruth Rogers, age 90 passed away on January 11, 2019 at her home in Silver City surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born March 16th, 1928 in Denver, Colorado. Her early years were spent in Colorado and El Paso, Texas as her father, Richard D. Pearson worked for the railroad. Her first job was a switchboard operator at Ft. Bliss, Texas. She later worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation as a clerk typist, a smelter weigh master and in industrial relations  She retired from Phelps Dodge in 1990. She was a homemaker and loving mother. She served as a Worthy Matron in Eastern Star and a past Mother Advisor for the Hurley Rainbow assembly. She enjoyed bowling and camping with her family. In her later years, she developed a passion for reading. She loved studying her Bible and learning more about spiritual life. She was a member of the Silver City church of Christ and enjoyed being around her church family. On June 11, 1946, she married the love of her life, James Robert Rogers and they shared 60 years of marriage.  She was a kind, caring person who brought joy to all who knew her. She was proud to be a member of the “Rogers” family and enjoyed all those large family gatherings.                 

She is survived by her children, Richard L. Rogers of Bayard, James R. Jr. (Dina) of Silver City, Roddy W. (Debbie) of Silver City, and John J. (Rita) of Silver City, a sister Marilyn Burrows of Albuquerque, grandchildren J.D Rogers, April Farren, Kyle Perry,  Ashley Webb, Amber Brandt, Aaron Rogers, Rhonda Wheeler, Brent Rogers, Jennifer Anderson, Jay Rogers, Shawna Rogers, Crystal White, Eileen Peru, Jolene Gutierrez, Julie Huerta and Eric Peru. She had 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Rogers, her parents Richard and Frankie Pearson, one daughter in law Thelma Rogers, one grandson B.J. Edwards, and one brother in law John Burrows.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, at 9:00am at the Silver City Church of Christ, 1920 Little Walnut Road.  Burial will be at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery. A fellowship meal will follow at the Silver City Church of Christ. Pallbearers are J.D. Rogers, Jay Rogers, Aaron Rogers, Brent Rogers, Kyle Perry and Pat (Dido) Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers are Cory Wheeler, Corey White, David Anderson, Edward Huerta, Eric Peru, Chris Webb and Derek Brandt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130 or your favorite charity in her honor.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.
