west 01Jerold Michael West, 70, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born October 23,1948 in West Blocton, AL to Clarence West Jr. and Elizabeth Caldwell West. Jerold proudly served his country with the U. S. Airforce for 4 years. During this time, he received an education in electronics and served as an Air Traffic Control Radar Repairman. Also, an artist, from painting to crochet to bead work. Michael used his hands to create beautiful things that we, his loved ones, will cherish. A man of few words; but many layers and talents. Michael was capable of deep love and compassion for his family and others. He never had children of his own; but loved children. His heart especially went out to the elderly. With his compassion, keen sense for recognizing elderly in need and his skill to fix just about anything, he went out of his way to fix a leaking roof to running errands to the grocery store.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth; four brothers, Chris and Wesley West, Berry Wade and Brett Cassel; five sisters, Angela West, Darla Birtie, Darris Schlotter, Robin Babbitt, and Cristian Smith; numerous relatives. A Memorial service will be celebrated Wednesday, February 6 at 1 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Reese officiating. Concluding service and inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
