smith 01Barry Ronald Smith, 75, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Monday, January 28, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1943 in Chicago, IL to Pershing B. and Joan White Smith. Barry loved Silver City and was an avid member of his church and the community. Whether it was his time working with the Knights of Columbus, his time volunteering at the visitor center, or one of the other many groups and organizations he was a part of, he was always busy and loved being part of this beautiful town. He was also lover of the outdoors and spent a large portion of his younger life camping, fishing, and working with the Boy Scouts of America to teach younger generations how to love and appreciate the natural world. He will be remembered as the type of person that could talk to anyone and as the life of the party no matter where he went. He is survived by one son, Barry Patrick Smith of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Joan Smith of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Brian Smith and wife Melissa of Phoenix, AZ; Cameron and Kyle both of Los Angeles, CA; three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Carol Smith (’17); two daughters, Theresa and Michele Smith. Visitation will be Friday, February 8 from 5-6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m. with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem officiating.
