William James Carr, 77, of Silver City, New Mexico, entered eternal rest on March 8, 2019. Bill was born in Amarillo, Texas, to George Turner Carr and Katherine Joanna Wilkenson Carr. After graduating high school in Fort Worth, Texas, he met and married his wife of 57 years, Linda Louise Maxwell Carr. 
Bill was a brilliant artist, excelling in both illustration and sculpture. His passion was sculpture and the human form and, early in his art career, Bill was selected to sculpt a bust of Amon Carter Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas. Beginning in 1995, Bill became a pioneer and technological innovator in digital illustration and digital sculpture. In addition to his many paintings, Bill completed major bronze sculpture commissions for a range of institutions and investors, including the Cotton Bowl and the Byron Nelson Championship Golf Tournament. His limited-edition sculptures are in private and museum collections in North America and around the world. Bill's illustrations are in use by scientific institutions and international corporations, including IBM, Brinker International Restaurants, Ferti-lome, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, and the Lewis and Clark State Historical Site, among many others.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda, of Silver City. He is also survived by the couple's two daughters: Dyana Karen Carr, of Silver City, her spouse, Ralph C. Gauer Jr., and their daughter Katherine Joanna Wilkenson Gauer; and Aleatha Rhea Carr, of Austin, Texas, and her spouse Mike Webb.  Bill is also survived by brothers-in-law Gary Wayne Maxwell, of Silver City, and Forrest R. Maxwell and his wife, Brit, of the British Virgin Islands. Bill moved to Silver City in 2002, in part to rejoin friends Jim Redford and Sam Redford of Silver City, with whom he had a more than 40-year friendship.
