Samuel “Sam” T.  Saenz, 89, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Monday, April 8, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1929 in Santa Rita, NM to Cecilio Saenz and Amelia Torres Saenz. Mr. Saenz proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice “Betty” Saenz of the family home; one son, Samuel Ray Saenz and wife Carrie of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters, Olga Jean Huerta and husband Rudy of Arenas  Valley; Mary Lily Jimenez of Silver City; Rose Mary “Zero” Saenz and companion Mark Schwab of Phoenix, AZ; Lou Ann “Lulu” Palomarez and husband David of Santa Clara; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Hawkins, Justin Jimenez, Sonia Marie Camilli, David Jr., and Christopher Ray Palomarez Betty Denise Anaya, Samuel Ray III, Ricardo Rene, Santana Rose, Samanta Rae, and Shawn Raymond Saenz; twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Clara Felix of Hurley; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tony Saenz; one brother, Johnny Saenz; one sister, Susie Jaramillo; two grandchildren Trudy and Andy Huerta. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga beginning at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be Thursday, April 11 at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Samuel Ray Saenz III, Ricardo Rene Saenz, Christopher Ray Palomarez, David Palomarez Jr., Justin Jimenez, Samuel Ray Saenz Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Deming, David Palomarez, Lorenzo Anaya, and Mark Schwab.
