Judith Wuthrich died after a lengthy illness and was buried on April 5, 2019 at La Puerta Natural Burial Ground near Belen, NM. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Ann Wuthrich of Wood River, IL. as well as four sisters, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Cosmetology School in Mexico, MO, Judy moved to Silver City and opened the town’s first nail salon. Judy’s Nails & Stuff was in business for more than 30 years, and her client list included numerous prominent citizens. She was known as a self-taught artist specializing in gallery-quality dolls, mixed media pieces and greeting cards. She also enjoyed creating unique pet portraits, and her work has been shown at several local galleries.

Judy’s creative contributions to the Silver City artistic community included serving as a Mimbres Region Arts Council board member, as well as creating costumes, wigs, hairstyles, and makeup for dramatic productions. Her writing efforts included stories, features, photos and “How-To” articles for ZIA Magazine and other regional publications.

Her favorite pastimes were mountain biking and bird watching with the love of her life, Todd Dennehy. Sharing her artistic talents and vision was how Judy expressed her love to the world and the Silver City community in particular.
