10Raymond Edward Phipps, 96, entered eternal rest on Thursday April 18 at Silver Care Center. A Fellowship Gathering will be held at the Bright Funeral Home Fellowship Hall beginning at 5:00 pm., on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 join us. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at Bright Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday April 30th at 6:00 PM with Reverend Joseph Gros, of Calvary Chapel officiating. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bright Funeral Home. A private Inurnment will take place at The Houston National Cemetery, in Houston, Texas with his wife Jean, who preceded him in death.

Raymond was born August 28, 1922 in Newark, New Jersey to Walter Phipps and Caroline Frederickson. In 1944 he married the love of his life, Jean Adams. He is survived by his son Robert, and daughter in law Lorraine, of Silver City, and son Gary and daughter in law Susan of Missouri City, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren Kristen, Brian, Michael, Susan, and Meredith, as well as 7 great grandchildren.

Ray will be missed by his family and friends as will his infectious sense of humor. A member of many organizations during his lifetime, of particular importance to him was Kiwanis International, and the Little League. Ray was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and attended Calvary Chapel while living in Silver City.

A stint with the US Army’s North African Command during WW II instilled a love of travel that continued for many years and included many places in the US and many foreign countries. Upon returning home, Ray was employed by General Electric Corporation, and at the same time earned a degree in accounting from Rutgers University.
