stevenfloresSteven Anthony Flores,19, of Silver City, NM passed away April 26, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be on Wednesday May 1, 2019 from 5 to 6 pm at the Silver High School Gymnasium where the recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6 pm. The Funeral Service will be at 10 am on Thursday, May 2, 2019, also at the Silver High School. Concluding services and burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Deacon Bill Holguin will officiate at the services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Bueno, Ray Tafoya, Edmund Ray Lewis, Jerry Pena, Isaiah Pena and Kody Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Lewis, Mike Sedillos, Dezmond Rios, Diego Cisneros and Silver High Track Team.

Steven or “Big Dawg”, as he was affectionately known, was born December 23, 1999 in Silver City to Fernando C Flores and Tanya Bueno. Steven was a student at Silver City High School and was going to graduate this May.  He enjoyed and participated in Track and Field at Silver High as well as the Special Olympics. Steven loved the outdoors, camping and spending time with family and friends. He also loved Friday night bingo with Nana Chelo, grandma Lupe, auntie Molly and watching his favorite wrestlers on television. Steven watched many programs for and about “little people” expanding his knowledge. Steven was also a member of St. Francis Newman Center Parish. He will definitely be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steven is survived by his mother, Tanya Bueno; father, Fernando Flores; step-father, Jacob Casaus; sisters, Jazmine Flores and Jordan Flores; half-brother Dezmond Rios; maternal grandparents, Lupe and Douglas Lindsey; paternal grandmother, Kathy Flores; maternal great-grandmother, Chelo Ortiz;  uncle, Carlos Bueno; aunts, Christina Flores and Bernadette Flores (Richard Cisneros); cousin Edmund Ray Lewis and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

 He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fernando Flores, Sr, and his maternal grandfather, Alfred Bueno.
