vasquez 02Robert “Bobby” M. Vasquez, 75, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, June 27, 2019 at his mother’s residence. He was born July 23, 1943 in Silver City, NM to Manuel and Anita Mendoza Vasquez. Bobby’s life was a celebration of adventure from his big game hunts to his time working on cars. His happiest moments were time he spent with his best friends hunting, fishing, and an occasional cold frosty beverage. Bobby worked most of is life in the local mines. His passion for working on cars taught him fantastic skills that he shared with many of his friends and family. He always gave more than he received and even at the end of his life he gave us all the gift of happiness as he passed quietly to Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife Olivia of the family home; three daughters, Barbara Vasquez of Silver City; Janette Vasquez of Las Cruces; Rita Sanchez and husband Elias of Las Cruces; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Chacon of Silver City; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Manuel Vasquez; two sisters, Alice Ybarra and Arcelia Ortiz. Visitation will be Monday, July 1 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at St. Vincent Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers will be JR Romero, Steve Ybarra, Emilio Rivera, Manuel Rivera, Orlando Vigil Jr., and Elias Sanchez Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Tudy Acosta, Felix Romero, Frank “Jiggs” Gonzales, and Adam Arzaga.
