chavez 02Danny Ray Chavez, age 30, died on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He was born June 1, 1989 in Silver City, New Mexico. Danny worked as a carpenter and steel worker on many projects, like the Penny Park and the playgrounds at Central and Bayard Elementary including the Bayard Elementary school building. Danny Ray was known for his undevoted love for his son Danny Jr. His focus in life revolved around whatever his son loved to do.   He enjoyed the outdoors, especially taking walks with his son. Danny was an avid angler, hunter and an avid Washington Redskins football fan.   He enjoyed watching football with his family. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Danny Ray was preceded in death by his grandparents Fabian and Genevieve Silva, his aunt, Anita Silva, and his godmother, Ruby Chavez. Left to honor Danny and remember his love is his son, Danny Ray Gideon Chavez; Parents, Raymond and Marie Chavez from North Hurley, Three siblings; Orlando and his companion, Bianca from Santa Clara, Robert and his wife Kyrstyn from Silver City, Kindra and her companion, Xavier from Arenas Valley. Danny will be remembered as a bright, shining light who loved and was dedicated to his family. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Richard Maynes Jr. to begin at 6:30pm.  The funeral mass will be Thursday, August 22 at 10am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Nozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Hurley cemetery. Pallbearers will be Orlando Chavez, Robert Chavez, David Chavez, Ray Silva, Armando Chavez and Daniel Sandoval.   Honorary Pallbearers will be Orlando Chavez Jr., Jesus Chavez, Danny Ray Chavez Jr., Gerald Polk, and Larry Rios Jr.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.  To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com.
