Rita Salgado, 59, a resident of Bayard, NM, entered eternal rest Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Las Palmas Medical Center, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on May 6, 1963 to her parents, Baldomero and Consuelo (Sanchez) Esqueda in Silver City, New Mexico. She attended college and worked as a medical secretary for Presbyterian Hospital.  

Rita was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Despite her large family Rita always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her friends and family. Rita was a passionate crocheter. We will miss her greatly. Rita was one of the strongest, bravest, and kindest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her and we will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

She is survived by her two sons, Rogelio Jason Cano of Bayard, NM and Diego Chase Esqueda of Silver City, NM; her brother, Ronnie Esqueda; her nine grandchildren, Anayece, Rogelio Jr., Rhyinn, Ares, Aiden, Areila, Avianna, Diego Jr., Elijah; and her 3 step-children, James, David and Zachary Salgado. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Baldomero Equeda Jr. and Ruben Equeda.  

A Celebration of Life service will be celebrated Friday, May 12 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
