Romulo “Bobby” Guerra Villegas of Silver City, NM was born on September 21, 1940 and passed on September 3, 2021 to be with his parents, Romulo and Basilia Villegas. He was born poor but given the gift of music at a young age. He died peacefully at his home on Roswell, surrounded by his loved ones, and was listening to Las Mananitas when he took his last breath. He was raised in Las Cruces as an only child but had four close lifetime friends he considered his brothers: Johnny Trujillo, Sonny Trevino, Orlando Samaniego and Jamie Lucero. Collectively, their band was known as the Knightmen and entertained Las Cruces/Mesilla and the surrounding areas in the 1960s.

He admittedly did not do well in school but had a knack for finance and owned successful small businesses in Roswell throughout his lifetime. His life was filled with a legacy of community service as the founding father of the Hispano Chamber of Commerce and his music school for youth, S.O.Y. Mariachi. He leaves behind many loved ones. His wife and life partner of more than fifty years, Irene Sambrano Villegas, his children, Veronica, Adam, Gabriel, Romo and Matthew. He has eight grandchildren and several grandchildren.

He saw everyday as a blessing and lived life as one big adventure by traveling the world.

He will be buried with his parents at a graveside service in Deming at Mountain View Cemetery on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 am. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please donate your time and money to a worthy cause serving others.
