Rita Parsons, of Lordsburg, passed away July 20, 2023 in Las Cruces, NM

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lordsburg.  The Funeral Liturgy will follow immediately thereafter.  The Rite of Committal and burial will be at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg.  Officiating will be Father Jude Okonkwo.  Serving as casket bearers will be Victor Tovar, Eddie Barka, Cody Barka, Dayton Barka, Gabriel Newell, and Matthew Renteria.

Rita was born May 1, 1957 in Lordsburg, NM to Gilardo “Gil” and Margarita Renteria.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Rita was known for her love of green chili, whether it be enjoying it herself or making meals for anyone else.  Rita will definatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Katrina Parsons, Rosa Baker, Jessica Levario and Adam Parsons; brothers, Victor Tovar, Jacob Renteria, and George Newall; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Two grandchildren, specifically Cody and Dayton Barka.  Rita was an intricate part in raising these two grandchildren.  We would also take the time to note instrumental people that helped Rita thrive also that she became close.  Too such as her Case Worker, Care Givers, Nurses, EMT’s etc.  Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Gilardo “Gil”  and Margarita Renteria; brothers, Carlos Tovar and Tony Newall and her two sisters, Rebecca Levario and Geneva Uresti.
