BarrioP1Primitiva Acosta Barrio, 96 longtime Deming resident entered eternal rest on November 21, 2023 in Deming.

Primitiva was born in Huejucar, Jalisco Mexico on June 10, 1927 to Ramon Acosta Luna and Maria Acevedo Robles. She married Francisco Bonilla Barrio on May 14, 1952 in Deming. They had four children, Ramon, Fernando, Margaret and Martin. Primitiva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will miss her beautiful smile and laughter. We cherish her stories of growing up in her beloved town of Huejucar as well as the many fond memories of her life here with her family and friends in Deming. Her hands were rarely still as her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, baking and gardening. One way she shared her love with her family was with food. Primitiva loved to cook and spend time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and for visitors to her home. One of her favorites was baking her famous biscochos every Christmas as well as for family weddings or quinceañeras. In our eyes she was a woman who stood out to us because of her enormous strength, her love for God, and love for her family. She leaned on God for strength and acknowledged when she needed God’s guidance and courage. She found comfort and encouragement in praying, especially the Holy Rosary daily. We are grateful and blessed for her presence in our lives, her warm embraces, her kindness, and her loving words. She was also a devout catholic and communicant of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sons Ramon (Mary Lou) Barrio, Fernando (Concepcion) Barrio, Martin (Lillian) Barrio and a daughter Margaret (Tim Muzzey) Barrio, grandchildren Ivan Barrio, Vanessa Barrio, Marisa Barrio, Brandon Barrio, Bryant Barrio, Brayden Barrio, Ryan Muzzey, Briana Delgado and one great-grand-daughter Jade Barrio.
