Diaz Rebecca

Rebecca T. "Becky" Diaz, 72, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Saturday February 16, 2013 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City.
 
Mass of the Resurrection was held February 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Weber officiating. As was Becky’s request, cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date.
 
Becky was born March 18, 1940 in Deming to Oscar H. and Lela (Miller) Turrentine. She graduated from Lordsburg High School and married Edward A. Diaz on February 15, 1958. She and her husband owned and operated B & E Music for many years and she also worked as a legal secretary for C.V. Nunn, worked at Phelps Dodge Corporation,and the Lordsburg Housing Authority. Becky also served as Hidalgo County Clerk for many years and served as Municipal Judge for some time. Most recently she was employed by the U.S. Forest Service where she held an office position as well as guided many tours which she especially loved to do. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Tina Diaz (David) and Rene Diaz of Lordsburg, Lisa Diaz of Alpine, TX; brothers, Haskell Turrentine of Sho Lo, AZ, Tom Turrentine of Silver City, Richard Turrentine of Modesto, CA; sisters, Peggy Hiser of Oklahoma, Jackie Noce and Herlinda Diaz Morelos of Lordsburg; her God Mother Mary Mora of Lordsburg, and two special family members she always considered as her children, Betty Caudel and Brent Turrentine. Her grandchildren who she cherished are Stephanie (Ralph), Jamie (D.J.), Meisha (Samuel), and Monika (Lewie); great grandchildren, Raymond, Ashley, Quincy, Angelina, Alicia, Jaiden, Ylianna, Luis, Samuel, Madisyn, Kyndel,Victor and Anisah. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, grandson Jessie Darnell, and siblings, Oscar, Sonja, Phyllis and Dale.

Pallbearers were David Noce, D.J. Saucedo, Raymond Saucedo, Ralph Aguilar, Lewie Jaquez, and Samuel Ortega. Honorary bearers are Quincy Connor, Luis Jaquez, Jaiden Darnell, Samuel Ortega Jr., and Victor Aguilar.
 
In lieu of flowers family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Gila Regional Cancer Center, 1313 East 32nd Street, Silver City, NM 88061.
