McGhee

Margaret Louise McGhee, 98, (formerly of Lordsburg, NM) passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 in Las Cruces.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Lordsburg, New Mexico, Third and High Street at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 1:00pm.  Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
 
Louise was born in Lordsburg, NM November 9, 1914 to Edward Marion and Mabel Gammon Fisher.  She attended Lordsburg schools and graduated in 1932.  She attended the University of New Mexico from 1932-1934.  After college, she worked as a switchboard operator in Lordsburg for Mountain States Telephone Company.  In 1940 she met and married Jack McGhee.  From this union they had four children; Jackie, Janet, Jane and Jerry.
She was a devoted housewife and Mother.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lordsburg.  She lived independently until her 90’s and enjoyed visits from her children and her grandchildren.   She appreciated  all of her many friends who would stop by to visit her.  She enjoyed many sports on television and had many favorite shows.  She enjoyed listening to music (especially gospel music).  She will be dearly missed by all whom knew her.
 
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, her son, Jerry, Brother E.M. Fisher, Jr., Sister Ruthe Foxworth, and her great-granddaughter, Kristen Miller.  She is survived by her daughters Jackie (Ray) Miller of Gretna, LA, Janet (Walter) Mechem of Las Cruces, NM and Jane (Ron) Hall of Silver City, NM.    She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
 
At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 3rd & High Street, Lordsburg, New Mexico  88045 575-542-3293 and/or the Lordsburg Hidalgo Senior Citizen Center, 317 E. 4th Street, Lordsburg, NM 88045 575-542-9414. Cremation has taken place.
