Gloria Delgado Jurado, 75, of Silver City passed away January 8, 2024 in Las Cruces, NM.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. The Funeral Liturgy will follow immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Devon Jurado, Richard Romero, Sam Jurado, Richard Jurado, Danny Jurado Jr., and Nathaniel Jurado.
Gloria was born July 8, 1948 in Silver City, NM to Marcos and Ermelinda Delgado. She had worked for a time as a housekeeper at the Palace Hotel in downtown Silver City. She loved to go shopping and go on her daily walks. Most recently she spent her time at home with her family. Gloria was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
William Joseph Fencil, 86, a resident of Deming, NM

William Joseph Fencil Or “Sweet ol Bill,” as most of us knew him, born November 13, 1937 and died December 29, 2023. Bill Fencil has gone to his heavenly home to be with his wife Jeannine Fencil.
He leaves behind three children; a son Stephen Fencil, a daughter Crissie Burrows (Tony), and a daughter Mimi Row (Johnny). He also leaves behind four grandchildren; David (Sarah), Anna (Brent), Megan and Aliah (Christopher), and five great grandchildren; Mason, Eleanor, Oliver, Elliott, and Everett.
William Fencil lived a long, adventurous, and successful life as a nurse anesthetist, and served in the army during the Korean War. He loved sports, and played baseball in the farm leagues as a young man. He loved to dance and performed a few times on American Bandstand. He graduated from Meyerstown high school in Pennsylvania, attended Philadelphia school of nursing to achieve his bachelors in nursing, and later his CRNA license. William “Bill” Fencil was loved by many, and his hearty chuckle and “hi-ya” will certainly be missed by all.

Margaret Louise Hernandez, 55, Deming resident passed away Saturday January 6, 2024 at her residence.
Visitation will take place at Baca’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 11, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning where the Holy Rosary will begin at 12 o’clock recited by Elias Anchieta, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Father Francis Gyau, will officiate.
Margaret was born March 29, 1968 to Linda Aguilera and Abelardo Chavez, in Deming, NM. She loved baking, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her parents Abelardo & Linda Chavez, sons; Zachary Castillo & Brandon Chavez; daughters; Jessica & Alyana Martinez, brother Gilbert Chavez and sister Luz Aguilar; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Barbara Jane Mattocks Lee, 94, a resident of Silver City, NM

Barbara Jane Mattocks Lee, 94, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1929 in Mimbres, NM to Ralph Mattocks and Esther Matthews.
Barbara grew up on the Mimbres river, one of eight kids. She finished high school in Silver City, NM and later graduated from nursing school in 1964 from St. Mary's Nursing School in Roswell, NM with her LPN degree. She worked as a nurse in the old Hillcrest Hospital, Med Square Clinic and Occupational Health Resources, where she was highly thought of. Barbara was known to most as 'granny' and carried that title proudly. She loved her family very much. She taught her grandkids and great grandkids math, reading and cooking after school. She loved to do crossword puzzles, play cards, work in the garden and quilt and sew. Granny was also a constant spectator at grandkids events like football, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, animal showing or whatever the kids were busy with. Granny was often seen cheering on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys and passed that love down to her own kids. She had a strong faith in God and was baptized in 1952 in Clovis, NM. Her faith saw her through some very trying times. We will carry that faith with us and in our memories of our granny.
Sally Lou Cole Wofford, 95, a resident of Silver City, NM

Sally Lou Cole Wofford was born in Lovell, Oklahoma on November 9, 1928, to Robert Hugh Cole and Dee Cole. She died peacefully on January 5, 2024, in Silver City at the age of 95.
She graduated from Hurley High School in 1946 and soon after graduation married Hurshel Alvin Wofford. Hurshel was her soul mate and the two quickly became immersed in creating a life around gardening, growing numerous fruit trees, fishing, and raising children. A poem to Sally from Hurshel:
“To My Beloved Wife”
I love you not only for what you are, but for
what I am with you.
I love you not for what you have made of yourself,
but for what you are making of me.
Sally and Hurshel had four children: Nancy, Terry, Hurshel Jr. and Doreen. Hurshel Sr., and children Doreen and Hurshel Jr. preceded Sally in death. Afterwards Sally immersed herself in her church, oil painting and Widow Persons’ Organization.

Nicholas R. Bustamante, 27, a resident of Brighton, CO entered eternal rest Saturday, December 23, 2023 at his residence. He was born September 4, 1996 in Silver City, NM to Ventura Bustamante and Mary Gomez.
Nicholas graduated from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, NM. He enjoyed being with family and friends. His big smile and big heart brightened any room he entered, bringing warmth to all that crossed his path. He could be found enjoying the outdoors and playing sports with friends, cooking his favorite dishes. He had his sweet tooth for butterscotch sticks, and his yeast bread. All the while watching his favorite team The Pittsburg Steelers. He often was found enjoying the open roads and wind while riding his side by side. Handy with his hands, he enjoyed building things here and there, working and working, enjoying his cars. He took comfort in making those he knew laugh. Above all, he enjoyed being with family and friends. He enjoyed being with his family, Celina and kids. They liked the outdoors. Nick loved them so much. His smile showed it all.
