Floyd Roland Marriage, 75, a resident of White Signal, NM

marriage1Floyd Roland Marriage, 75, a resident of White Signal, NM, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Tucson, AZ on May 16, 2023, following an extended battle with cancer.

He was born April 27, 1948, in Missoula, Montana to parents Raymond Arthur Marriage and Bonnie Buckley Marriage. His early introduction to, and love of the outdoors began with daily walks as he was carried by his mother along the banks of the Clark Fork River.

Floyd's early education took place in Three Forks and Sheridan, Montana and the U.S. Territory of Guam. At age nine, he was a full-fledged scuba diver and enjoyed diving from his parent's outrigger canoe off the coral reefs in a paradise of tropical fish. He was an experienced hiker from his earliest years. Before coming to New Mexico, he traveled with his family, visiting Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, and Alaska.

Stanley W. Jackson age 77 a resident of McKinney, Texas

647a2c6ad7491Stan Jackson of McKinney, Texas passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023 at the age of 77 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 4, 1946 to Delmer R. Jackson, Sr. and Annamae (Berthelson) Jackson in El Paso, Texas. Stan was a graduate of Austin High School in El Paso. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas El Paso. Stan married Kathy Ann McGuire on January 19, 1965 in El Paso. He was a longtime resident of Deming, New Mexico. He had an extensive career as a businessman and real estate investor. Stan was a member of the Rotary Club, Lion's Club and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Deming.

He also served on the boards of Home Federal Savings Bank, Community Healthcare Foundation, and was a Founding member of Alma Feil Hospice and Saint Augustine's Anglican Church in Deming. He started the annual Christmas Shoes for Kids Campaign with the Deming Police Department.

Stan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Kathy Jackson; son, Brent Jackson (Sara) of Goldthwaite, Texas; daughter, Trish Jackson Krisher of McKinney, Texas; granddaughters, Kyleigh Drake (Son), Blythe Jackson (Duke Barker), Jacklyn Ainsworth (Chase), and Kathryn Krisher; great-grandsons, Sawyer and Hudson Drake; nieces, Joy Whitworth, Mae Hawkins (Michael), Melissa White, Shelly Chicago, and Kim Middleton; nephews, Dallas Jackson and Ace Chicago; great-niece, Mallory Phillips (AJ); great-nephews, Bradley Whitworth and Elijah Hawkins; great-great-niece, McKayla Phillips; stepsister, Lorraine Dillon; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Annamae and Delmer Jackson; sister, Delmarie Middleton; brothers, Bruce Jackson and Ray Jackson; and nephew, Chris Jackson.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 811 South Gold Avenue, Deming, New Mexico 88030.

Memorial donations may be made in Stan's memory to the Cancer Support of Deming & Luna County P.O. Box 1746, Deming, NM 88031.

Alex Tovar, 80, a resident of Bayard, NM

tovarobitpic1 copyAlex Carrillo Tovar, 80, a resident of Bayard, NM, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his residence with his loved ones by his side. He was born on February 9, 1943 to his parents Juan and Regina Tovar in Hanover, NM.  

Alex attended Cobre High School and went on to a career in the mining industry as a repairman and retired in 2001. He was known as “Thatha” by his children and “Papo” by his grandchildren. Alex was a strong hard-working man. He had a great sense of humor and had a nickname for all his grandchildren. He loved and was always so proud of his grandchildren successes. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and was always the photographer of the family. He spent countless hours working on the family property and working on his 1949 Chevy. Alex enjoyed the annual Tovar Hunt, where he was the “Camp Chef”. He also enjoyed volunteering his time at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was the heart of the family and will deeply be missed.

Nancy Louise Ellis, 87, a resident of Silver City, NM

Nancy Louise Ellis was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 87 years of life.

She passed away peacefully in the late evening hours of Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Nancy is survived by her son Jimmy Lee Ellis, former daughter-in-law Gigi, four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. John (wife Juli, son Chandler); Leslie, (son Chandler); Kristen; and Nathan (wife Sara, children Adeline and August), and an extended family of friends and relatives too numerous to list but not forgotten. Nancy is reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Melvin Wesley Ellis and is preceded in death by two siblings.

Nancy’s love for her family was unmatched, she doted on us, giving haircuts in the kitchen, sneaking snacks to her grandkids hiding under the table and making sure we all had a hot home-cooked meal when we arrived to visit no matter what time of day it was.
