Zachariah "Zack" Grinie, 36, of Silver City passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. Arrangements are pending under the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.

Robert Lee Johnson, 101, an Army Air Corp Veteran and long-time former resident of Silver City, NM

johnson 04Robert Lee Johnson died in Logan, Utah on April 7, 2023 after living for 101 years. He was a remarkable man who had good health, enjoyed each day, loved his family, shared laughter, was a life-long learner and a voracious reader with an unquenchable curiosity about the world. He went to China with his daughter Jennifer when he was 92 and traveled to India with his daughter Betsy when he was 95. His first trip was to Italy (1944—1945) where he served in the Army Air Corps as a Buck Sergeant during World War II. He never lost his deep commitment and love for his country. After returning from the war, he married Patricia Jane Isgreen in 1946, attended University of Utah and graduated in Political Science in 1948. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah where they had three children: Alice Kristina, Thomas Lee and Elizabeth Jane.

Betty Jean Lambright, 71, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Providence Hospital in El Paso, Texas.  Arrangements are pending with Terrazas Funeral Chapels ~ 575-537-0777.

Rita Armendariz, 73, a former resident of Bayard, NM, now a resident of Mesilla Park, NM

armendariz 02Rita Armendariz, 73, a former resident of Bayard, NM now of Las Cruces entered eternal rest Sunday, April 9, 2023 at The Village at Northrise in Las Cruces, NM. She was born December 17, 1949 in Santa Rita to Richard Richarte and Apolonia Arsola.

She is survived by her four children, her son, Steven Armendariz and wife Aimee of Phoenix, AZ; her daughters, Denelle Vasquez (Luis) of Bayard; Angela Armendariz and husband Lief of Albany, CA; Lisa Armendariz (Vincente) of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Macedo and husband Salvador of Las Vegas, NV; Irene Gutierrez of Las Cruces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother in-law, Tommy Gutierrez.

A memorial service will take place at Terrazas Funeral Chapels on Thursday, April 13 at 10am with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating.  Concluding service and inurnment will follow at Hurley cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

Debra Ann Marin, 51, a resident of Silver City, NM

marinobit1 copyDebra Ann Marin, 51, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at her residence.  Debra was born on October 29, 1971 to her parents Lino and Aurora (Holguin) Marin in Silver City, New Mexico.  

She was a beloved companion, mom, grandmother, daughter, aunt and friend to many.  She was a social butterfly who loved to talk and be around others.  She was extremely bright and had a way with making others smile and when she loved, she loved hard.  There was never a dull moment around her.  She is very loved and will be deeply missed. 

She is survived by her mother Aurora Marin of Bayard, NM; her companion, Ronnie Hernandez of Silver City, NM; her two sons, Nathan Chavez (Jobeth) of Tucson, AZ, Jerrad Chavez of Bayard, NM; her daughter, Zaylene Chavez (Jesse) of Silver City, NM; her stepchildren, Jacob, Adrian and Audra Hernandez of Silver City, NM; her brother Arnold Marin (Julie) of Santa Clara, NM; her sister Lorraine Delgado (Ronald) of Arenas Valley, NM; her six grandchildren, Iyzak, Zaden, Nayanah, Zamuel, Jedi, Zejai; and her two step grandchildren, Jaylynn and Raylynn.  She was preceded in death by her father, Lino Marin.

Evan "Abie" Mateo Miranda, 73, a resident of Silver City, NM

miranda pic copyEvan “Abie” Mateo Miranda, 73, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Gila Regional Medical Center. Abie was born on September 18, 1949 to Mateo and Isabelita (Apodaca) Miranda.

Abie was a man who lived his life his way and may God have mercy on his soul.  

He is survived by a daughters Diane and Amber Miranda; his three brothers, Joe Miranda (Norma) of Santa Clara, NM, Richard Miranda of Monticello, NM and Jerry Miranda of Santa Clara, NM; his three sisters, Molly Ramirez of Bayard, NM, Alsie Beltran of Santa Clara, NM and Ramona Miranda of Albuquerque, NM; his numerous nieces and nephews.
