...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY
The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a
* Flood Watch for a portion of southwest New Mexico, including the following areas, Eastern Black Range Foothills, Southern
Gila Foothills/Mimbres Valley, Southern Gila Highlands/Black Range,
Southwest Desert/Lower Gila River Valley, and
Upper Gila River Valley.
* From late tonight through Sunday evening
* Moderate to heavy rainfalls will combine with melting snows to produce flooding over portions of southwestern New Mexico. The flooding may especially occur around portions of the Gila River and other rivers and small streams. Flooding is also possible along mountains slopes...low water crossings and poor drainage areas.
* Some evacuations may be required for persons living or camping near or along rivers or streams overflowing their banks. The flooding may also require a few road closures especially for roads along rivers and streams and at low water crossings.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
