silver city fd helps dwsHere at the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions Office at 410 West Broadway, where I work as the Disabled Veteran's Outreach Specialist, we have been without a flag for some time- about four years, I think. Well, we have a nice flagpole, and ordered a new flag, halyard and clips; but had no way of getting the flag up through the pulley at the top of the pole. My supervisor, Roberto Montoya at the Deming office suggested that I call on assistance from the Silver City Fire Department since the Deming FD helped with their office.

After work yesterday, I stopped by the Silver City Fire Department main office on Hudson. They said that they would be happy to help us and would bring their ladder truck over in the morning. So, today about 10 am Capt. Swartz and his crew came over with their ladder truck and successfully installed the halyard through the pulley on top of the 30' flagpole. The power lines presented quite an obstacle, but they persisted and found a way to make it work showing their inginuity and teamwork with professionalism and safety.
