nk below.\nSilver City Museum Curator Javier Marrufo will begin this two-pa
rt program with “Chihuahua Hill: A Case Study in Division,” a presentation
that examines the history of economic segregation in Silver City and its su
rrounding areas. The second part is a community conversation that occurs af

d of stakeholders in the community.\nMarrufo received his BA in history fro
m Western New Mexico University in 2016 and plans to obtain a MA in history
from the same institution by 2023. His interest in history stems from his
love of southwestern New Mexico. As a child, Marrufo was enamored by the in
tricately painted black and white pottery of the Mimbreños, the tragic tale
of Geronimo during the heroic defense of his homeland, and most of all, th
e countless stories of happiness in the face of great inequality from the m
ouths of his elders. “With my connection to the area and love of its histor
y, I am truly fortunate that my career path allows me to study its history,
and to make meaningful contributions to our community,” he said.\nhttps://
