Hidalgo County, NM - On January 5, 2019 at about 2:16 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 10 near mile post 31, east of Deming.

The initial investigation indicated a 2007 Chevy, driven by Maria Consuelo Jaimes (56) of Center, Texas, was traveling west on Interstate 10. For unknown reasons the Chevy drifted off the roadway, entered the median and rolled. Jaimes sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the office of medical investigator. There were three other passengers in the Chevy at the time of the rollover crash. All three sustained unknown injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Seatbelts do appear to have been used properly. No other additional information is currently available.
