The cake honoring Davis
Ray Davis has served the American Legion Allingham-Golding Post 18 in Silver City for many years, in many positions. He's not exactly retiring, he said, as he will continue to serve veterans and is presently the vice commander of American Legion District 7.
Davis' tenure as commander was from 2011-2016 and again in 2018.
John Sterle, an American Legion member, said that even in 2017, when Davis was not commander, he continued to coordinate the annual Post 18 Golf Tournament, which is the primary fundraiser for Post 18 during his tenure as post commander.
Last Friday evening, the American Legion Post 18 and the American Legion Riders Post 13 hosted a thank you celebration honoring Davis for his many and continuing years of service to the post.
