On Friday, Oct. 25, at about 12:24 a.m., Grant County sheriff’s deputies responded to 107 Clove Street
In Santa Clara in reference to a shooting call. The Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority advised that a female advised that her son, Denver Roberts, 29, of Santa Clara, had been shot and that she had been in a physical altercation with her son when he discovered her calling 911. According to an offense report, the mother suffered slight bruising to her face and a ruptured blood vessel near her left eye, where she said her son had grabbed her face and squeezed with his hand. The mother stated that her son then left running. She also refused medical treatment, the report said.

According to the report, the mother advised deputies that her son told her he had been shot at a residence on Pinon Street in Santa Clara by a male named ‘Jeremy,’ but the mother said the wound on her son’s side appeared to be only a ‘nick.’ The mother informed deputies that her son was under the influence of an unknown substance and thought people were conspiring against him.

Deputies interviewed at least six individuals at the Pinon Street residence, including the homeowner, and all advised there had been no shooting at that residence. After a thorough search of the residence, deputies found no evidence of foul play, the report said. Attempts to locate Denver Roberts were unsuccessful.

During the investigation at the Pinon Street residence, a named male was placed in investigative detention, and a female, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a white car, was ordered to step out of the vehicle. This female, according to the report, was identified as Crystal Rodriguez, 38, of Santa Clara, who had four outstanding warrants. She was transported to GCSO for paperwork and then booked into the Grant County Detention Center. Rodriguez remains in custody as of Thursday, Oct. 31.
