On Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, a Silver City Police Department officer was dispatched to Silver High School at about 2 p.m. in reference to harassment of a student. According to an SCPD incident report, when the officer arrived at the school the principal stated that a male, who used to be a student and who had recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram holding a shotgun or a rifle, had arrived on campus. According to a Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority blotter entry, the past-student made his way onto the campus the day before and threatened a female student, although not with a weapon. The blotter entry also stated that the male past-student and the female student had recently broken up.

The SCPD officer requested assistance from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, according to the incident report, as both male and female lived in the county, the female in Tyrone and the male in the Hanover area. Requests were made to issue the male indefinite criminal trespass warnings for Silver High School, Ben Altamirano Sports Complex, and the female’s residence. Because the male is a juvenile, his name was not released.
