The Comcast Corporation and the Mimbres Region Arts Council are coming together once again on Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 9 am to 3 pm, for the 16th Annual Comcast Cares Day.

Every year on Comcast Cares Day, Comcast brings together tens of thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends to make a positive impact on neighborhoods across the country. Silver City will once again benefit greatly from this community event. This year the Mimbres Region Arts Council will beautify the west side of the Big Ditch Park (behind Diane's Restaurant) and emphasize the historic floods which formed it.

Join us in downtown Silver City on the corner of E. Kelly and Bullard to create and install tile "rain-drops". Under the direction of Diana Ingalls Leyba of Leyba & Ingalls Arts, Silver City school students already have made hundreds of clay raindrops to add to the new mural. The raindrops will form the huge downpour and the huge flood that swept away downtown Main Street in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Bring your grandkids, bring your grandparents, it's not just for kids, but for the whole community! Be a part of this mural and support the Mimbres Region Arts Council arts programming. For each volunteer who works on the mural, Comcast will donate to the MRAC.

At the Mimbres Region Arts Council we firmly believe that the future foundation of our community lies in its young people. We understand the importance of ensuring that our future generations have a grounded and well-rounded appreciation of how the arts affect our everyday lives.

All members of the community who share the same vision are welcome to bring their volunteer energy. Comcast will provide free hot dogs and sodas for lunch to all who participate.
