Two of Silver City’s favorite artists, Deb Hutchings and Ginny Wolf, will present their work at Vicki’s Eatery the weekend after Thanksgiving, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—November 29 and 30, December 1. The gallery will be open Friday 11a-3p; Saturday 7a-3p; and Sunday 8a-3p.

Ginny Wolf will show her jewelry, vintage hats, and custom leather work. A former longtime Silver City resident, Ginny had a gallery on Yankie Street. She now works in Cheyenne Crossing, South Dakota for 6 months each year and spends 6 months in the Southwest including this visit to Silver City. Her work can be seen at www.ginnywolfstudio.com, according to MaryAnn Marlar of Vicki’s.

Ginny says, “I have spent the past 40 years traveling all over the United States and Europe creating and selling my wares at art festivals, music festivals, flea markets, Grateful Dead shows, Motorcycle Rallies and everything in between. I incorporate my love of the natural world and respect for cultural differences in the high quality jewelry, hats and art that I make. The materials I use are as diverse as the cultures I draw inspiration from. The techniques I use are cold joining, lapidary, etching, weaving, wire wrapping, stringing, metal stamping, collage, assemblage, painting, drawing, and whatever is needed to bring to life the vision in my head! The materials are semi-precious stones, glass, leather, found objects, metals, organic materials, beads, wood and handmade paper.”

After having her own gallery in Silver City, according to Marlar, Deborah Hutchings chose to stay local, selling by appointment from her studio and from various small venues around Silver including Vicki’s. In addition, after many trips to Montana, Deb began to paint Montana landscapes—hay bales and barns being her favorite.  She now exhibits in Old Main Gallery in Bozeman and Creighton Block Gallery in Big Sky, Montana. She paints in oil and watercolor. Her paintings are vivid and natural, and her notecards feature flowers, fruit, animals, and local landscape. Many are printed from her original paintings, in both oil and watercolor. Deb’s work can be seen at www.debhutchings.com.

“After many years living and painting in New England,” Deb says, “it was time to experience the grandeur of the mountains and the desert and the golden colors. My paintings reflect the serenity and beauty of the Southwest and the sense of tranquility of New England. I want to capture the place where you go that is so quiet and so peaceful that you can hear your thoughts and feel what is in your heart.”

Vicki’s Eatery, a Silver City landmark, which Greg Bond and MaryAnn Marlar, bought from the original Vicki in 2004, is located in Silver City’s Historic Elks Clubhouse, 1 block off Bullard St at the intersection of N Texas and W Market Streets.
