December 8, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street  – “Grant County Community Foundation: Promoting Community Investment in Local Nonprofits”

Mary Hotvedt and Dr. Jane Gillespie will talk about the goals and activities of the Grant County Community Foundation. The mission of the GCCF is to enrich lives through collective action in southwest New Mexico. To achieve this mission, the foundation promotes philanthropic giving in the region, which includes Grant, Hidalgo, Luna and Catron counties. It promotes donor support of local non-profits, and works to connect donors with non-profits that match their priorities and, subsequently, to maintain donor intent. Through the foundation’s planned giving programs, donors can honor loved ones or leave a legacy that benefits the community for generations to come.

This is a Family Program Sunday and December in the UU Children's Program is all about gifts. Chelle Chase, Family Program Director said, “It’s about the gifts we receive, and remembering to be thankful for them, as well as the gifts we give, which are not always material in nature. The most important gifts come from generosity of spirit. We will discuss aspects of giving and receiving gifts, and our arts and crafts will focus on creating gifts and cards for friends and family. In our togetherness, we will endeavor to embody the spirit of Christmas so we may take it with us and keep it throughout the year! As always, the discussion will be followed by arts and crafts or other fun activities! Please feel free to join us!”

There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are always welcome.
