“Theater 101,” a Silver City Community Theater (SCCT) workshop, will introduce participants to the jobs, etiquette, and traditions of the various roles of the theater: not only actor but also director, producer, designer, lighting, stage manager, and more,” according to Joe Navan, who has presented this workshop for years to theater groups throughout Arizona. An accomplished actor and man of many roles, Navan now manages The Silco Theater for Silver City Mainstreet Project,” according to SCCT President Thomas Leeper.

“Come on people let’s make some theater,” says Navon, “join us for “Theater 101” at The Silco Theater, Tuesday, January 14, 6 pm.

Admission is free although a donation may be made at the door, Leeper noted.

“Be the community in Community Theater—join SCCT! Individual and family memberships receive tickets and admission to opening night parties and workshops. Additionally, sponsorships are recognized in programs and other publications,” according to Leeper.

A home-grown theater company, SCCT grew out of a series of acting classes presented by The Western Institute for Lifelong Learning (WILL). Several class members joined forces to create the Silver City Community Theater. Now after 5 years and many productions, SCCT’s mission continues: to enrich, educate and entertain the Silver City and Grant County communities by providing a broad range of live theater experiences on a recurring, seasonal basis.

SCCT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
