Silver City, NM, January 7, 2020—For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District has temporarily closed three campgrounds, effective immediately. 

The following campgrounds are temporarily closed:

• Iron Creek Campground, located in the Black Range Mountains off NM State Highway 152
• Cherry Creek Campground, located off NM State Highway 15
• McMillan Campground, located off NM State Highway 15

“We have had to close these campgrounds due to safety concerns due to previous inclement weather.  We encourage forest visitors to check weather and road conditions prior to heading out on the Forest” said Beth Ihle, District Ranger. Visitors should also be mindful of hazards that can be present during the colder months, such as sudden weather and temperature changes and falling trees due to windy and/or snowy conditions.
