Saturday, February 15, 2020 is Territorial Charter Day and Silver City MainStreet has two promotions to celebrate Territorial Charter Day. They are the Urban Challenge Fun Run and Love Local.

In 2020, Silver City MainStreet is asking residents to Love Local by shopping and dining in downtown Silver City with your Valentine. Downtown Silver City offers more than twenty places to dine and drink, more than twenty retail shops with affordable gifts, and more than twenty galleries offering everything from funky contemporary art to fine art.

“There are more than 140 businesses downtown, states Patrick Hoskins, board president of Silver City MainStreet. There are antique shops, retail shops, galleries, restaurants and coffee houses, day spas, historic hotels, the Silco Theater, the Silver City Museum, real estate offices, The El Sol Theater, and more than twenty-five service businesses. It’s a great mix of businesses and that is what makes our downtown vibrant. We hope to encourage more residents to come downtown to dine and shop. Visitors are impressed by our downtown, and we hope residents will have that same excitement and pride in downtown once they come down and really see everything that is offered.”

The Urban Challenge Fun Run is a 5K that winds through downtown and is run by WNMU track coach Macario Campos and the track team. It is a very family friendly event and even friendly and leashed dogs participate. Entry fee is 3 cans of food that will be donated to the Grant county and WNMU food pantries. The first 100 registered runners will receive a free race t-shirt thanks to sponsorship from the Town of Silver City! The race starts at 9 am on February 15th. To register email Mary@silvercitymainstreet.com or visit www.silvercitymainstreet.com . Medals will be awarded for each age category.

If you have not been downtown recently, this is a great day to shop local, have fun, learn about our Territorial Charter and discover all the great things going on downtown!

The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City which is recognized as the heart of our diverse community." Please visit our website, www.silvercitymainstreet.com to learn more.
