chocolate fantasia parade Silver City parades are always unique and memorable! And you have to wonder the “State of Mind” it takes to put together some of the entertaining entries! This image is from the 2011 Chocolate Fantasia Parade with historic Silver City buildings in the background.Opening with a reception on from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m.  January 31, “Silver City is a State of Mind” is the theme for the 2020 FeVa Fotos show at the Mimbres Region Arts Council gallery. Photographers Sandy Feutz and Tom Vaughan are excited to share some of the highlights of their Silver City photography.  They have presented some more serious themes for this  show in previous years but thought it was a good time to do a “just for the fun of it” exhibit, focusing on the unique character (and characters!) found in our town that make it a real feast of interesting and intriquing photography opportunities.

Sandy Feutz and Tom Vaughan have for many years been  photographers, first partnering in  their work under the FeVa Fotos label in Mancos, Colorado, as well as occasional shows in nearby Durango and Cortez. Ten-plus years ago they moved to Silver City and were immediately delighted with the friendly community and the exciting art scene. MRAC was the first artist organization that they joined and started presenting an annual show of their work in the welcoming MRAC gallery space a few years later. Sandy says, “It is always so much fun to see who comes to the reception  and to  read the comments left in the guest book." Their work can also be seen at the Grant County Art Guild Gallery as well as Revel and Vicki’s Eatery.

The show will be available for viewing for the month of February  during the regular office hours of MRAC- 9 a.m.. till 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.  Everyone is invited to come to the opening reception from 2 till 4 on Friday, January 31. The gallery is located within the Wells Fargo Building at 1201 N Pope Street. There will be refreshments, a  door prize drawing and the photographers will be there to explain how the “Share the Joy” FeVa Fotos motto transfers to  their photographic offerings on display.  Fun, food and good conversation. That  is a  “Silver City State of Mind” !
